A father and his son

Kali's First Dentist Appointment

Kali did an amazing job for her first dentist appointment. Both the dentist and the assistant said they wished all two years olds behaved as well as she did. It may have helped that a week earlier she saw me doing the exact same thing, so she felt like a big girl and she didn't even have any cavities!!! Good Job Kali! They gave her a fun little goodie bag with a new toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and a My Little Pony sticker. I am sad I didn't bring my new camera because I didn't realize the huge difference in quality until I took these with our underwater camera. Now I know:)

Authentic Mexican Food

Natalie, you are awesome for having our family over and cooking us the best chicken fajitas, rice and beans, EVER! It was fun to spend time with your family, talking and eating amazing food. Kali and David were so cute to watch play together. Thank you for your friendship and hospitality:)

Eyeball update

It is still in tact:) They don't know what is wrong with me, it was worse so they upped my eye drop dosage and on Friday if it doesn't look better they are going to give me a shot, IN MY EYE! That face you are making right now, was the face I must have been making when the doctor told me that because he replied, "oh, it is not that bad." I will let you know on Friday:)

And to top it all off I got sick on Saturday afternoon and I am still trying to get over it. However, during all of this, I have had some awesome friends who have helped me out so, I want to say MAHALO nui loa too, drum roll please:

Melissa - Thank you for always taking Kali and Krew whenever I need a brake or a little help, you are an angel. And thanks again for your AMAZING enchilada's, I am already craving more:) THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Kava - a new neighbor across the way, Joe's wife (Joe is the guy who Aaron works with, spear fishes with, has all the same classes with, and his always on the phone with, his second wife:) I will get pictures of their CUTE family hopefully SOON! Anyhoo, Aaron was telling Joe and Kava about my eye and the next thing I know Kava is bringing me over dinner, which was so nice and so needed. THANK YOU!!

Angie - You know Angie, ALWAYS watching my kids, their home away from home, a.k.a. life saver. Thanks for taking Kali on Sunday so I could nap, on last Monday so Aaron and I could have our hot date at the Dentist, and at Macaroni Grill and shopping at Ala Moana:) And all the other many times in between. Oh yay, and for watching Krew today while we were at the pool. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Ka'ala - a.k.a. MYSTERY PERSON, (sorry Jaime, nice try) she is my new neighbor who instead of me bringing her goodies or food and welcoming her to the area, brings me carrot cake and muffins. What kind of a slacker am I??? THANK YOU for bringing me yummy food and making me feel loved, even when I should of been the one doing it:) THANK YOU!!!!

Happy Birthday Melissa

We started out the day at the Kahuku Library for the kids school. After they had story we had snacks in front of this awesome red wall, perfect for fun pictures:) Then we headed to the playground where Kaiya got her self all muddy, Happy Birthday, mom:) Later in the day Melissa got her manicure and pedicure, which turned out FABULOUS, Angie, Hillary and I got her a gift certificate to Laie's very own Amber Nails, to help pay for her pampering. To end the day off Chad organized a little get together for some singing and Ted's Bakery pies! YUMMY!!

A tribute to Melissa on her day of birth.

Melissa is a very thoughtful person. She made me some enchilada's yesterday because I was not feeling well. AND THEY WERE AMAZING!! She even watched Krew for me on Sunday while I took a nap. She is ALWAYS willing to help me out when ever I need ANYTHING:) She is an amazing friend, she is so much fun to talk to and hang out with. I could just sit and talk to her for hours. She is a wonderful mother, I love watching her with Kaiya and how she loves and cares for her. I have learned so much from her. She is an amazing seamstress. I love seeing all of her new projects, and I am so excited for her, she just opened her etsy shop, check it out here.
I could have not ask for a better next door neighbor. I love you tons, Melissa and I hope you had a perfect birthday:)

We are thinking of doing it at the Stake Center Pavilion, just R.S.V.P. so we can have an idea of how many girls are interested. For more specialized recipes we will have demonstration nights in the future. This is not a ward activity, it is for all who are interested:)

Mystery Person

I came home from the fireside tonight to this delightful treat on my couch:) Wait a minute, (as Kali would say) there was no name on it, no one to thank for this wonderful goodness, my mind races, who could it be, I make a few phones calls trying to thank this heaven sent individual, but I strike out, I don't know who it is. So if it is you, THANK YOU, who ever you are, it was a perfect ending to a perfect day:)

It has finally arrived!!

After about 6 months of saving for this bad boy, it has finally arrived:) Now I just have to figure out how to use this amazing piece of machinery. Thank you so much to my husband who is so supportive in letting me get something like this and for working so hard for our family. Now we know what I will be doing in my spare time, learning photography, the ins and outs and hopefully with in this next year I will start to produce some really fun pictures. Thanks to my kids and the neighbors kids for being such wonderful subjects:)

Happy 3rd Birthday Drew

Saturday we packed our bags and headed to Kailua for a fun filled day at the Reynolds for Drew's 3rd birthday. They really know how to throw a party! We had barbecued ribs, baked potatoes, salad, and yummy crystal light (my favorite.) The girls spent most of their day basking in the sun:) Playing in the pool and they are all doing so well, learning to get use to the water and go under, etc. The cupcakes that Drew insisted she had for her birthday, were so delicious. It was a nice relaxing day and a great way to spend Drew's birthday, as you can see by the end of the day, the girls were wiped out, Addi exhausted her self till she just decided that the floor was a nice comfy place to nap. Happy Birthday Drew!

My Heavenly Father Loves Me

7:00 am (Krew let me sleep in a whole hour this morning, "thanks little buddy," as Kali would say.) Instead of waking up to the usual 6:00 am hungry cry, I woke up to the coolest thing in the whole world. Krew was making the cutest cooing sounds and laughing, so I went into his room and found him looking up at the picture of Jesus in his room and he was just talking away. I couldn't get a good picture of it but it was so awesome. My mind flashed back to when Kali was a baby and when she would look at pictures of Jesus and smile and coo. What do they know? What do they remember? There is so much to be learned from these little ones. Many of you know, but I really struggled for the first couple of months with two children. I felt as if I was in a state of depression. I didn't feel as if I was caring for both of these special spirits the way that I should. I felt guilty for not giving both of them all my attention. I was feeling pulled in two separate directions and I felt as if I was failing at EVERTHING:( I am so blessed to have an amazing husband who told me, the only thing he wanted for me to do was make sure the kids were happy and healthy, taken care of, and he would help with the rest. The laundry, dishes, cooking, house cleaning, etc. That really did help lighten my load and relieve A LOT of stress. Thank you so much, Aaron:) I remember the one thing that brought me peace of mind when it came to the kids was when Krew would smile and laugh at me and he seriously started doing this the day he was born. I know most of you are thinking, sorry Shanae, it was just gas, but whatever it was it made me feel my Heavenly Fathers love for me and helped me get through that difficult time. I could never video it because the second the camera came out, he would stop and not perform for me, I finally got a little bit on camera the other day while in Waikiki, so you can have a little taste of my happiness I get from Krew every morning and other random times throughout the day.

Today was a hard day for me, but the biggest blessing was having Kali by my side reminding me to be happy. She really is a HUGE blessing in my life. If I am ever sad or having a hard time she always says, "be happy mom" it immediately brightens my day:) Today I struggled with some incompetent, rude secretary's from the dentists office over the phone, my day as previously planned was falling apart so I had called them to try and reschedule for another day since I would have two children with me and no car. (babysitters weren't working out and Aaron needed the car for work) No big deal I thought we will just do this next week on a day Aaron doesn't work. But NO, they wanted to charge me $50.00 to reschedule, I was like are you kidding me, really, $50.00. O.K. then I was out to show them. I found Aaron a ride to work, THANK YOU ANGIE, and thank you for offering to watch Kali, I was determined though to "show them" what a mistake they had made by making me bring my two children in. I don't know why I get this way, Aaron even told me to relax and just pay the money and we will take care of it next week, he didn't want me to be stressed out. He really does love me. But of course like I said I was determined and wanting to do this. So off I went on our hour drive to the dentist office, I was sure when we got to the office Krew would be screaming and Kali would be wanting to run around and cause mad chaos, which sadly, I was hoping for. I know I am terrible. Well, I was humbled, my kids were out to teach ME a lesson and teach me they did. They slept the whole way to the dentist office they were ANGELS inside the office, not a peep or a cry, nothing. I did sort of break down when the dental assistant came to get me and ask why I had my kids with me, I told her the secretary's were rude and incompetent, I felt bad because the dentist actually yelled at them for not rescheduling me. All said and done, my tooth is refilled, life is good. My children taught me to step back, relax, and be happy. Act as a representative of Jesus Christ at all times, in all things and in all places:)

It's in my eye!!

I woke up about a week ago with a splitting headache only on the left side of my face, my left eye was swollen and blood shot for no apparent reason. I didn't wear my contacts for a couple of days thinking maybe it would clear up. Nothing. I wore my contacts for a day to see if it would have any affect. Nothing. I finally decided to go to the doctor because I was feeling alot of pressure and the redness wasn't going away. He tested for a scratch and glaucoma, both tested negative, which is good. He just said take some pain medicine for the headache and then see me in the morning if nothing changes. I couldn't believe it, there really was nothing wrong with my blood shot red eye and a splitting headache, Tylenol which I had already been taking wasn't helping and you think miraculously it is just going to heal tonight. ???? So I headed home and took a nap, when I woke up my headache was hurting so bad I decided maybe I should head to the hospital just to make sure, we are talking about my eye, not a scratch on my leg. Not the brightest idea of mine, but obviously my mind was clouded by the pain, but I went to Kahuku hospital. If you wonder what I mean by this, I just read three perfect examples on my friend Erin Nelsons blog.

So, I go there fully knowing they probably can't do anything for me, but knowing I am in enough pain that it is worth a try and once again, it is my eye so I should try everything in my power. When I get there they tell me that my doctor pretty much did the same thing they would do but I could still talk to the doctor and see what he thought. After a few minutes of debating I thought whatever, it's my eye, I will try for a second opinion. So the doctor comes back looks at my eye, says well there is nothing else we can test you for but it looks like your contacts probably irritated it, what kind of drops or medication did your doctor give you, "none!" Well, it looks like he didn't finish his job. So he prescribes me some eye drops and vicodin. I forgot to tell him I was nursing and he didn't ask, but I don't think I can take vicodin while I am. Anyone want some vicodin? Anyway, the whole purpose of the pictures with the eyes is because the next day is the shark adventures and on the boat one of the girls said, "I didn't know you had one blue eye and one green eye." My response, "I don't." For some reason my left eye was bright green. I will get a better picture from Noelle with my eyes wide open. So of course that worried me a little but my redness had cleared up and my headache was fading. So I thought maybe I am OK. Well my doctor decides to call and check up on me the following day and asks how I am doing and for some reason when I woke up this morning, I was losing vision in my left eye, so he said I had to run to a specialist today and see what was going on. YAY, maybe we are getting somewhere with all of this now. Since Aaron had to work all day today I called Jana to see if she could come with me into town so I could have a babysitter while I went to the appointment. It turned out better than I could have hoped, it was actually Rob and Jana's 4 year Anniversary today and how did they spend their afternoon? With my kids at the windward mall! You guys are awesome, thank you so much and Happy Anniversary!!!!!! We did go out to El Mariachi after my appointment to celebrate!!!

Well to make a long story longer, I went to my appointment only to find out that the drops Kahuku hospital had given me were the wrong ones and I was to throw them away and start immediately on these other ones. Surprise, Surprise:) Sadly enough even the specialist couldn't give me an exact answer as too what was wrong with my eye but I am to go back in 5 days for a check up. So we will see, hopefully:) to be continued...

HAPPENINGS - Hawaiian Waters and BYUH pool

F.Y.I. - BYU-H Pool is open for community swim Monday-Friday 1-2:30 pm. This is a good way to get your keiki's comfortable in the water and an excellent way to wear them out before nap time:)

This was Kali's first day at the pool, I will get pictures and video of Kali and Brylie the next time we go and you will see the huge improvement in only a few times at the pool.

Also, Hawaiian Waters has a Dive "N" Movie every Friday night until the end of August. This is something I will definitely go to at least once, I just have not decided which one yet. Check out the movie schedules, open rides and pricing here.

This could be a fun date night or a fun family day at the water park. Since Aaron works Friday nights, I may hit up a kid movie night and take Kali, OR if one of you lucky ladies wants to be my hot date we could go on another night:) Like I said I have not made any firm plans yet, but I will keep you posted. Let me know what you think, or have a fun date night with the hubby or day with the family, just thought you might like to know:)
