In the year 2008 we became a family of four with the birth of our son, Krew Ross Jones. He entered into this world with some difficulty (two knots in his umbilical cord and a c-section). My mom was able to come and help with Kali, bringing her in everyday to visit Krew and I in the hospital.
We were able to make it to the Wood family reunion at the cabin in Oregon and met the soon to be newest member of the family, Seth Ellsworth. A few months later we were on our way to Salt Lake City, Utah to celebrate a beautiful wedding for Seth and Janica and enjoy Thanksgiving with the family. Aaron’s mother joined us in Utah spending Thanksgiving with us and enjoying the grandkids. We flew back to Oahu with Coriann and her BYU basketball team for a tournament. My parents and Nate also made it out for more bonding/picture moments. Coriann played VERY well in the tournament.
I assisted Zach and Rachel in a surprise visit for Aaron, which was such a good time. The kids just love their Uncle Zach and Aunt Rachel.
We are excited that Aaron’s dad and Joy will be spending Christmas with us this year and can not wait for their arrival. We have felt so blessed this year to be able to spend so much time with so many of our family members.
Aaron and I were called as gospel doctrine teachers, which has been pretty challenging. Finding time to prepare with the two kids and our busy schedules is tuff, but some how it always works out and has been a huge blessing in our lives. I love being able to really dig deeper into the scriptures and there meanings.
Aaron is always going a hundred miles an hour. He’s working in youth corrections, and has continued to study full time at school with an expected graduation date in December 09’. He is passionate about working out, and spear fishing. Even with all this on his plate he still makes time for his family, taking Kali on daddy daughter dates, Krew for strolls to the closest field for some football drills, and works hard at keeping me happy, which we know can be a full time job in its self. Aaron is an amazing husband and father who honors his priesthood and has an unshakeable testimony, he reminds me daily to be more like our Savior.
I am a full time mother of 2. Full time means 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It was a tough transition for me going from one child to two. I didn’t feel I was giving each child the individual love and attention they needed. It has been a challenge, but with that comes many rewards. Watching Kali and Krew interact with each other, laugh together, play together, brings me a joy I have never experienced before. It has been a new experience raising a boy. Kali and Krew are exact opposites in everyway. When my children are sleeping, my hobbies are photography, which I just got into this year. Aaron bought me a nice canon camera. I took some classes and am now trying to hone my skills. With Uncle Benny’s Christmas gift, a ukulele, I have been taking lessons from him and enjoy playing and singing with Kali. Realizing scrap booking is not for me, I have gotten into making online photo books, which I love, they are much quicker, smaller, and I love the end result. With a forever love of basketball, I was able to play on our ward team and we took first. The blogging world, I love to have this journal of our lives and it has been an awesome way to keep in touch with friends and family. I would love to start working out again and surfing, but we will work on that in this next year.
Kali is now 2 years old and bursting full of energy. She is always on the move needing to be doing something. Mainly she feels she needs to ALWAYS be with her friends. Lili, Kaiya, Brylie and Kali are inseparable and are more like sisters than friends. Kali still attends Na Kamalei but has a new teacher Auntie Keahe and also joining the class with his ukulele is Uncle Benny. Kali does so well with singing all the Hawaiian songs and knows her colors in Hawaiian. We have learned Hula dances, and how to make hula skirts out of leaves. Kali also enjoys going to gymnastics and she performed in her first competition in May. She did all of her routines by herself; she competed on the floor, beam, and bars. She won first place and received a medal and a ribbon. (all the little kids her age won first place in case you were wondering. Kali has started to show a little bit of her tom boy side this year as she chooses some of the boy things over the girl things. Kali surfed her first wave this year and she loved it. This is exciting for me because this means more time in the water!
Krew was born on Thursday, March 20th at 4:59 pm one day before his due date at Castle Medical Center in Kailua, HI. He weighed 7 lbs 13 oz and 21 in long. Krew has been smiling since the day he was born and smiles and laughs all the time. He started rolling over at 3 months, and crawling at 7 months. Now he is 9 months old and loves to crawl all over and pull everything off the shelves. He is already throwing things and climbs up onto the couch and bed. He walks along the couch and chairs a little but hasn’t learned to balance himself yet. He has two teeth on the bottom with four on the top trying to break through.
His favorite team is the Dallas Cowboys and is already planning to start as middle linebacker. He’s able to hang on the shower rod for a total of 35 sec. and has a mean right hook! There I did my part, love Aaron.
We have been so blessed this year and are grateful to our Heavenly Father for his love for us. We hope you have felt his love and blessings through out the year. Be strong and upright in all that you do, not forgetting that you are being watched.
