Kolt's photo shoot:sneak peak

Kolt Roy Jones

Kolt Roy Jones

Born: December 11, 2010
(12/11/10 that should be easy to remember;)
Weight: 7 lbs 10 oz
Height:  21 in

the birth story:

Having four ultrasounds and all confirming Kolt was measuring a week big,
I was a little nervous about waiting to deliver at 40 weeks pregnant.
My last ultrasound showed Kolt weighing 7 lbs.
with one month left to go,
meaning he could be around 9 lbs or more at 40 weeks.
Having that in the back of my mind and the fact that Aaron's finals week for his masters program
was December 13th -16th, Kolt was due on the 18th.
I was worried if I was to go into labor myself in that last week,
Aaron would not be able to be there.
I know this happens where women go into labor and there
husband for what ever reason is unable to be there,
but I didn't know if I could do that.
Aaron is always a big support for me and I NEED HIM THERE!
The last concerning element for me was the weather, the roads had been icy and
I was REALLY nervous about having a baby at home or in the car,
not my cup of tea, if you know what I mean.
So my doctor and I early on in my pregnancy had
planned on inducing one week early,
which happened to be my birthday.
This was the plan up until the week before my scheduled induction date
I go to my appointment only to hear my doctor say,
I am going to let you go full term,
maybe longer,
and don't worry we will be monitoring your babies size,
and out of the room he went.
My jaw just dropped.
WHAT?
Maybe let me go past my due date and you are monitoring my babies size?
HOW?
The last ultrasound had been two weeks ago and I hadn't had one since.
Feeling my temperature rising,
and knowing Shanae-nae was wanting to break free (my mean self)
I decided to keep my mouth shut and waited to confront him the following week.
All week long I was wondering what his reason was for this decision.
Was he confused?  Did he have me mixed up with someone else?
The day finally came for my appointment, it was a Thursday, two days before
 my once scheduled induction.
I really wanted to be calm and not cry but after waiting over an hour and a half
in the waiting room, (which was normal in this office)
I was in tears before I got into the room.
When the doc came into the office he asked, what was wrong?
I just went off, I asked him why he changed his mind about the induction,
and if there was something that was concerning him,
I wanted to know if thought I should get a c-section, etc.
He just asked me what I wanted to do and said he was not concerned about inducing me.
He is always really vague with me and just not helpful, it was frustrating.
I told him I still wanted to be induced, he asked for when, I said today, tomorrow what ever is available.
He called the hospital and put me on a waiting list which was weird for me,
You just wait around for the hospital to call you and tell you there is room for you to come in.
He then stripped my membranes and said maybe this will help you start into labor yourself,
then as I was leaving the office he decided to inform me that if I was to go to the hospital
on Friday that Dr. Lorenzo, his partner, whom I had never met, would be delivering the baby.
For some reason he was afraid to tell me he would be gone for the weekend.
So I waited all day Thursday and nothing, Friday, nothing,
ok now Saturday was my birthday,
so I called the hospital that morning and asked them if it was a possibility
that I would be coming in, they said it looked like Monday would be the soonest.
At this point I decided to take things into my own hands.
I drank a concoction of 1 egg, 2 cups of vanilla ice cream, 2 tbls of heavy whipping cream and
2 oz of castrol oil.
Yes, I did.
And it worked like magic.
I drank it at noon.
One hour later the side affects started and by 4:30 pm my contractions started.
We dropped the kids off at Yount's house,
and headed into the hospital by 6:00 pm,
the snow was falling and I was nervous about
bad roads, so we were on our way to get this party started.
When we got to Kadlec Medical Center they put us in a room to check if I was dilated
and hooked me up to monitors to check my contractions.
I was dilated to a 3 and they decided that was enough to put me in a room.
After in my room I had asked for an epideral before they broke my water.
They were getting me hooked up to IV's and taking my blood
and having us sign consent forms when we came to the VBAC consent form.
The nurse who brought it to us was anti-vbac and wanted to make sure
we totally understood all the ins and outs of it.
Of course we didn't know all the risks since my doctor had not informed us.
After reading over it and Aaron giving me a blessing and praying we decided to
do a c-section.  Aaron was just to nervous about the risks.
It was a hard decision, I was worried about my recovery and the fact
that it would limit the how many kids we could have.
c-sections are must so weird to me, you just go into a room,
they cut you open and the next thing you know you hear your baby crying.
It always makes me cry when I first hear my babies cry.
When they first showed me Kolt I thought he looked just like Krew.
After Kolt ate for a few hours he slept for 12 hours.
I would try to feed him and he just wanted to sleep.
I was concerned and kept asking the nurse if this was OK.
She assured me he would be fine.
He was fine but he did lose more weight then they liked.
He lost 10 oz. so he was just 7 lbs.
Then they were worried about jaundice.
The poor guy got poked 3 times.
He started eating like a champ and it was just a mild case of jaundice so he is just fine.

Now a week later, I am so glad I have my sweet baby boy and my recovery has been
AMAZING.
It has not been bad AT ALL!

I am a bad photographer, I did not get a picture of the whole family together in the hospital.

When Kali and Krew came to visit,
Kali came right in and wanted to hold Kolt and wanted to feed him and help with him.
Krew on the other hand did not want anything to do with him.
He just ran over to the other bed and played around
while watching How to Train your Dragon on TV.
I asked him if he wanted to hold his brother and he said. NO.
Kolt getting love from me, Kali, and Grandma
Kolt's poor little foot was pricked 3 times, checking for jaundice. so sad.
As soon as Kolt was brought home Krew was very interested in him and wanted to do
all the things he was doing.
He wanted to sit in a car seat and drink a bottle and have a blanket.
That only lasted for the day, now Krew is becoming protective of his brother
saying, "that is my baby brother Kolt."
Krew if very gentle with him.
Both Kali and Krew LOVE HIM!

getting ready for the holidays.....and baby

We headed to the mall yesterday to go see Santa and get or annual pictures:)
Kali was so cute, she was nervous about remembering everything she wanted to ask
Santa for, for christmas.  She seriously repeated the list to me 100 times and
then would ask, "am I forgetting anything?"
She asked him for a world globe, computer, dinosaur book,
reindeer puppet (not sure what that is, she came up with this one while in line?),
and Toy Story 3 the movie.
Krew just asked Santa for candy:)
I was nervous to see how Krew would react to Santa, since the past years
he wanted NOTHING to do with Santa.
This year, he ran up and sat on his lap and gave us a big ol' smile.
While at Costco, I picked up one of these gems.
A pre-built gingerbread house, all you have to do is decorate it.
This had my name written all over it.
PERFECT!
I put on the icing, the kids put on the candy.
It was a great time!

Can you tell which one is ours:)
I know, I struggle, but as least I try.
I should have let Kali put on the icing, she may have done a better job.
I have been trying to make sure I have everything accomplished before this baby comes.
Decorating the Chrismas tree √, Christmas shopping √, Picture with Santa √, Gingerbread house √,
getting kids caught up on shots...
Since I moved to WA, I took the kids to the doctor when we first moved here.
I think they had gotten sick and I thought I should find a doctor around here for them,
so I did, and they have not gotten sick all year and I have been lazy and slacked on their
shots.  I thought I better get this all taken care of before the baby comes.
So we go.
5 shots for Kali and 4 shots for Krew,
and a thumb prick for each to test for anemia.
Kali had been nervous for awhile about getting shots and wondering if it would hurt.
Well let me tell you I have one TOUGH cookie.
She did not cry AT ALL.
The nurse what shocked, she could not believe Kali wasn't crying,
she even told Kali she could cry if she wanted, but nothing.
Seriously the stinking nurse was acting more nervous than Kali.
Poor Krew on the other hand, cried when he got is shots,
and said, "please, no more."  It was cute and sad.
He stopped crying though and soon as she was done with the shots.
They both got succors and stickers, which made everything better for Krew.
Krew was funny, he got up on the counter and stuck his head in the corner and said,
"mom, take a picture of me."
So of course I ran and grabbed my camera, he never lets me take his picture.
One more thing on the agenda before the little one is born.
Take the kids to see Tangled.
THEY LOVED IT!!!
I did to:)
and I may have shed a few tears.
Kali had to comfort me.
She gave me a hug and told me it would be OK:)
The kids both got popcorn and a treat.
I wish I could remember which preview Krew was watching here,
but he had a kung fu grip on his popcorn and Rolo.
In case you were wondering we went to the 4:02 showing.
How funny is that:)

christmas tines

Decorating the christmas tree, setting up the nativity, and wrapping presents,
while listening to Christmas music just puts a smile on your face.
There is just something about Christmas that brings excitement.
Our ornaments consisted of these red balls and candy canes, for about a day.
The candy canes were cute but the kids could NOT keep their hands off of them
so now we just have red balls on our mini tree that
grandma bought for us before she left to travel the world,
watching Coriann play basketball.
Kali loved helping me wrap all the gifts we need to send to our cousins.
Our family picks names and this year we had my brother Brandon's family.
Kali was so excited to write who they belonged to.

Thankful

This was Kali's list of what she is thankful for.

This year I would have to say the thing that sticks out most in my mind is how thankful I am
for my family.

We have spent more hours together this year than ever before.
I am so thankful for my children.
They keep me in line.  I have no choice but to progress.
I have to be a good example to them, and children make you do what you say you will do.
I learn daily from them.

My husband.
What an amazing man.
I know he was made just for me.
He compliments me.
He keeps me on my toes.
He knows how to make me laugh.
He loves me.

I am so thankful for him in my life.

He is an excellent father.
I love watching him play and interact with the kids.
He knows how to motivate Kali in a way that no one else can.
His kids adore him.

I am so thankful for my parents.
They have made this year so comfortable for us.
They are the most giving and generous people.
They have always and continue to be a huge example in my life.

I am thankful that we have been able to see and spend time with
so much of our family this year.

I am so thankful for my family!

baby shower

Ok the picture you have all been waiting for.
The picture I have been procrastinating,
because lets face it 9 month prego pics are
not the most flattering:)
This pic was taken my Kali Jones Photography.

This was the AWESOME baby shower Candice Walker put together for me!
Thanks again Candice, it was PERFECT :)
SO MUCH YUMMY FOOD and
WONDERFUL WOMEN to chat with.
Here are the FABULOUS women in my ward!
Some fun presents for Kolt.
Auntie Crystal Beazer sent a fun package with burp cloths and a sports sleeper.
Auntie Marcie Barberich gave him two fabulous Dallas Cowboy sleepers
and his first Dallas Cowboys book.
Grandma Cheryl gave him the cutest football sweater!
And the blankets were ALL handmade,
the top one by my FABULOUS laurel girls,
the second one by Susan Hawkins,
the third one by Tricia Freeman (OK I think she bought hers, but it is SO SOFT, LOVE IT)
the fourth one by the amazing and talented Kirsten
and look at all those fun baby boy clothes!!
Thank you to EVERYONE!!!!
Now it is time for Kolt to arrive!
Kali and I went and took a tour of the Kadlec Medical Center together @ 7:00 a.m.
Yes, that was their only available time for a tour so we got up at 5 to leave by 6 and arrive by 7.
After the tour we headed over to IHOP for some breakfast.
Kali ordered these fun pancakes and I tried their pumpkin pancakes, which I LOVED!
I LOVE PUMPKIN ANYTHING!!!!
We both had some yummy hot chocolate and enjoyed a relaxing time eating and chatting:)
I was surprised my belly fit into the booth, I was a little worried:)
When I went to my baby appointment later that day, I had a ultrasound and
he has his tongue sticking out and, they took a picture of that,
after which he put his thumb in his mouth.
I think he knows how badly I don't want him to suck his thumb,
he is just showing me, he is going to anyway.
Kolt was measuring a week bigger then he should.
He was 7 pounds and I still had a month left,
which means if I went full term he would be over 9 pounds.
My other two were 8 pounds.
I think I will stick to my plan of inducing a week early
if he doesn't want to come, I don't know like TOMORROW!
I am scheduled to induce on my birthday Dec. 11.
Everyone has their own feelings on this but I am turning 31,
and I am not bummed about spending my birthday in a hospital where
I get to rest and relax and be fed what ever I want whenever I want.
AND it will be a WONDERFUL day when this little man comes out.
I just CAN NOT WAIT to see him and get to start losing weight again.
Mentally I have struggled with gaining weight this pregnancy, but we will leave
that for a whole different post.

snow in WA

We had our first snow day in Washington on November 22.
I thought I was going to escape the snow at the cabin,
guess not, it has become a winter wonderland around here.

The snowflakes were SO BIG, it was magical.

Krew was determined to weather the snow in ONLY his coat and shoes,
and it was a fight getting his shoes on.
He really is a true Hawaiian boy at heart,
I have the hardest time keeping clothes on that kid.
He didn't stay out to long,
He made it to the trampoline than turned around and decided it was time to come in.

This was taken TODAY after church.
Kali posed for me, and wanted a shot by herself posing,
so Krew watched...
 and posed himself:)
Than it was time to go inside.

Today was Kali's big day to give her scripture in primary and she did OUTSTANDING!!
She had the whole things memorized.

She recited D&C 4:2
Therefore, O ye that embark in the aservice of God,
see that ye bserve him with all your
 heart, might, mind and strength,
that ye may stand cblameless before God at the last day.

Then she added, I like this scripture because it reminds me of the Good Samaritan
when he helped the man who had been beaten by the robbers and no one else would help him.
I want to serve like him.

Everyone was so impressed that she had it all memorized.

Thank you Bri you did a GREAT JOB!
Here is a little sneak peak.

haircuts

Aaron has tried a few times to cut Krew's hair with the end result being the same, a buzz cut.
We decided to take him to a salon and see what they could do.

I was pretty pleased with the end result.
I just smiled every time I saw Krew running around with his new cut.
He just looks so CUTE!
Krew was pretty excited about it too,
he would tell Kali he liked her haircut and tell me he liked my haircut,
hoping we would tell him we liked his haircut,
if we didn't, he would say, "tell me you like my haircut." :)
Kali got her second haircut, or should I say, hair trim.
We only had her cut about an inch.

my turn!

Every Sunday as we are walking into sacrament meeting, I grab two programs. One for me and one for Kali. Kali quickly grabs her copy and hurries to our bench. There she opens the program and scans the list of primary names, searching, searching for these 9 letters, K-A-L-I - J-O-N-E-S. Sadly, with all the children in primary, most weeks she gets a disappointed look on her face and asks me when it will be her turn to give a talk, scripture, or say a prayer. She has had her name in there twice so far, both times were for a prayer. But this last Sunday a squeal of delight came from the end of the bench as Kali found her name and it was her turn to give her first scripture in primary!
As soon as we got home from church she wanted to get started on her scripture. She is supposed to pick a scripture and tell why she likes that scripture. We decided to have her memorize D&C 4:2 since this months theme in primary is,
"When we serve others, we serve God."

Kali loves to practice talks and loves to talk in front of people.
She loves to bear her testimony in church and has been doing it almost every month during fast and testimony meeting.

I am excited for her to get to give her first scripture in primary, I know she will do AWESOME!

GOING PRIVATE!

I KNOW THE POST THAT EVERYBODY HATES!
It is true though, it is time.
So let me know if you want to follow this blog.
Just leave me a comment with your email address.
Or email me at shanaeljones@gmail.com

You can follow me at shanaejones.blogspot.com,
that will be my public blog and whenever I post on my family blog I will let you know,
so you don't have to just randomly check it :)

she has it all figured out

When she grows up she want to be either

a doctor, a buyer girl (at the Country Mercantile of course) or a firefighter.

In high school she wants to play soccer, basketball and run track

and

for her wedding she wants her colors to be green, purple, blue, white and pink.
She want to marry Shayden Sullivan so her name will change to Kali Sullivan.
She wants to marry Shayden because she likes him and he is her best friend.
She wants a vanilla cake,
and she want to get married in the Salt Lake Temple.
This is the only picture I could find that I have of Shayden. I guess I will have to fix that:)
It think a lot of these big life decisions became important to her during the time my sister
Coriann was getting married. She has had A LOT of questions about marriage
and why people get married and when, etc. etc.
KALI LOVES THE COLOR GREEN!!
This is what she wants her room to look like when we get our own house.

Kali is a little athlete.
She can jump super high and run super fast and is super strong:)
Aaron has her in training and she really wants to make her dad proud.
Today when he was lifting weights
she couldn't find her little 2 lb weights so she started lifting furniture.
Aaron told her to go look in the weight room and see what she could find.
She came up with 8lb weights and started lifting those.
She has finally mastered the push up and can so about 14 of them in a row
and she can do 28 situps, (I am pretty sure that is her record so far:)
It is fun to watch her be so competitive
and ask Aaron if her competition is training as hard as her:)

Kali loves to take pictures and these next two are by Kali Jones Photography!
She is currently working on her 9th Article of Faith!
She memorizes so easily, it amazes me.
We just print out a new one each week and
put it on our board so she can practice during meal time.
She loves to write and draw pictures.
She loves learning.
We try to have school time every day but if for some reason I am slacking
she will asks me if she can work on her work book.

She is fascinated with maps and the world and wants to be a world traveler.
I am excited about this because I have this same desire.
Her first stop is Australia.
She wants to go there so bad and see kangaroos.

Kali

Below are some fun things Kali has said or done in the last couple of months.

Today when we went to church Kali told me that a girl in primary was a

big fan of hers, but she does not understand why since she is not in a movie or anything.

She then said she wants to be on stage where everyone comes and watches her.

Then she would be famous and everyone would be a fan of her.

When we went to church today we were visiting the Barberichs ward and Kali was a little upset because she wanted to play with McKay. I told her she would see him in primary and could talk to him then. She said no, primary is a time where we go and listen and learn how to be better people, it is not a time for talking and playing.

So true.

Kali just finished watching Beauty and the Beast and she said, "I just hate happy endings." I laughed and asked her how she would want it to end. She said, "they don't need to kiss, they could just hug."

Kali and Aaron were play fighting and Kali said, "dad, don't hit me in the stomach or legs, if you want to hit me, hit me in the face."

Today Kali asked me if people really can slip on a banana peel. I told her it only happened in movies. I said it has probably happened to one person and so now they use it all the time, but I don't really know, have you ever slipped on a banana peel? :) i haven't.

I tend to tear up frequently while I am pregnant and usually Kali will be very sympathetic giving me hugs and asking me what is wrong and why I am crying. Well the other daynI guess she had had enough. I had started crying and from the other room Kali asks, "mom, are you crying?" I told her I was, to which she replied, "CUT IT OUT!"

I am not dude, I am Krew

I looked at Krew today and he just looked SO BIG!
This little man is a ball full of energy.
HE NEVER STOPS, but he keeps me laughing all day long.
Krew does not like if you call him anything other then Krew.
dude, buddy, little man, etc.
If you call him anything other than his name you will hear him say,
" I am not (insert name here), I am Krew."
He is learning his first article of faith
and a few weeks ago while Aaron was bearing his testimony in church
Krew turned to me and said,
"Mom, I believe God, Heavenly Father, son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost."
I couldn't believe it, that is the first and last time he has said it that well,
normally he will just say Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost.

Krew loves to quotes movies right now.
His favorite movies to quote are:
Monsters and Aliens
Ice Age
Incredibles
Dinosaurs
Cars
Madagascar
Kung Fu Panda
I think it is time to stop watching movies:)
Krew loves his toys, it is crazy to me how he can play with his cars or dinosaurs
and entertain himself for awhile,
I guess I am just not use to that because Kali needs human interaction.
Krew loves playing with his swords and always wants someone to play swords with him.

These dinosaurs have been one of the best investments I have made
when it comes to toys for Krew, they were $1.00 each and he plays with them
all the time. They never leave his side.
Next lets talk about bath time.
Krew loves taking baths right now.
He will ask like 4 times a day if he can take a bath.
I think it is just a fun way for him to play with his toys
because they get to go for a swim as well.

I have to wonder if he did this because he knew he would get a bath:)
or it could just be the fact that he is a boy and that is what boys do.
He told us he was a green monster and he didn't want to stop
till his body was completely covered.
He kept saying, "oh I missed a spot," and he would color more.
This is why I am a firm believer in washable markers and crayons ONLY for my little man:)
It was nice watching it all melt off when the water hit his body.

Superhero's.
Krew LOVES Batman, Spiderman, Superman, Mr. Incredible
and any other super hero thing he sees.
This whole phenomenon is kind of interesting to me because the only movie Krew has
seen with a super hero is Mr. Incredible.
I have never shown him any other super hero movie, but
somehow he knows that spiderman can climb on walls and that
superman flies? I don't know are boys just born with this knowledge?
Well Kali pulled out her batgirl costume from a few years ago and Krew
was SO EXCITED he had to wear it. He seriously didn't take it off for two days.
So I thought for sure he would want to be a superhero for halloween,
but when I took him to the store to pick out a costume he didn't want any of those ones,
the first one that caught his eye was the cars pit crew costume, then he thought maybe
he wanted to be buzz lightyear, but when the big day came, he wanted to be a football player.

I do need to make him one of those reversible capes
with batman on one side and superman on the other. I think he would love it.
This is one of my goals for christmas:)
It I don't he will just continue to run around with bibs around his neck.
Krew CAN NOT wait to ride snowmobiles again.
All summer long we would find Krew in the garage with a helmet on
pretending to ride the snowmobiles.
As soon as he saw the first snow flake fall he was sure that meant it was time to ride snowmobiles again.
This other pictures is the classic little boy getting into mommies makeup.
the latest achievement.
This has been something that Krew has been ready for, for a few month now,
I guess I just wasn't ready to deal with all the accidents.
I finally broke down and bought him some underwear
and he LOVES being a big boy.
He is doing such a good job too!
Of course he does have his accidents here and there but I am surprised how well he does.
He even stays dry for naps and bed time!
GO KREW!

Krew

Here are some things my cute little man has said or done over the past few months.

Krew is usually a good helper around the house, but lately when he doesn't want to help with something he says his body hurts. Today I asked him to pick up a movie he had thrown on the ground, he said he couldn't because his belly hurt. He said, "I will do it after my baby comes out."

Krew is a smart kid. If he wants a treat, he will bring me one first and say, "here you go mom," followed by, "can I please have one?" AND, he gets mad at me if I won't eat mine with him:)

I told Krew to hold his horses, and he said you could not because his horses are poopy.

I got out of the shower and threw on sweats and a sweatshirt. When Krew saw me he said, "Mom, you are beautiful." Then he proceeded to say, "Mom, I love your shirt and your baby belly, I love your hair and your eyes and your mouth." Then he ran off to play. He made my day:)

Krew was showing Kali a bruise on his leg and she didn't show much interest, so he kept telling her over and over look at the bruise on my leg. I told Kali he was looking for some sympathy and Krew said, "yea, I looking for sympatee-tee.

Me: Krew, did you dream about motorcycles?

Krew: No, I dreamed Black.

Me: You are so handsome.

Krew: No, I am Krew.

Krew just informed me he wants a monster truck, so we searched for monster trucks on the internet and he was so excited.
"MOM I want to ride monster truck, I want to ride two monster trucks. Please mom, please."

Krew wanted to go outside this morning and help Grandpa and Dad work around the house. Grandpa told Krew he couldn't work in his pajamas so he needed to get his clothes on. Krew said, "Why?" Grandpa said, "well if you work in your pajamas than they will get all dirty and than what will you sleep in at night?" Krew, replied, "my bed."

I LOVE LOVE LOVE how Krew anytime he sees a motorcycle, snowmobile, jet ski, or 4 wheeler, asks "Please, ride it!" He always says Please first, It makes me want to let him every time.

Krew likes to blame everything on my sister Janica. If we don't know who did something or how it happened, Krew will say, "Janica did it." :)
