Tough Love vs. Spanking - Good Argument

Most of the American populace thinks it improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of 'those moments.'

One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.

Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as TV, video games, computer, IPod, etc.

Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together. Eye to eye contact helps a lot too.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.

Sincerely,
Your Friend

This works with grandchildren,
nieces and nephews as well.

I couldn't see it either. But you know my parents were totally against spanking. They never spanked me and I didn't want to with my children. Kurt on the other hand grew up with spanking and so he thinks its okay. I still don't agree with it but Kurt and I have come to a happy medium. I think people give kids too much credit with, they should know betters, etc. But really if your spanking your child because they are repeatedly doing something they shouldn't, doesn't that tell you right there that spanking doesn't work? I think they'd learn more if you took away their favorite toy, or blanket. If a teenager is talking on the phone too much which would hurt her worse: taking away her phone privileges or grounding her? My parents didn't believe in grounding either but everyone I talked to that has been said grounding didn't teach them. Sorry this is a novel. Two things I firmly believe in is no spanking and no grounding. I just don't think they work.

I have tried a car ride or a stroll when the going is getting uncontrollable, and it works like a charm!! Or sometimes i'll just go into brylie's room with a little treat to share or something and say "lets talk Brylie" and she LOVES that!

I just don't think to do it all the time.

Thanks for the reminder!
