It's in my eye!!

I woke up about a week ago with a splitting headache only on the left side of my face, my left eye was swollen and blood shot for no apparent reason. I didn't wear my contacts for a couple of days thinking maybe it would clear up. Nothing. I wore my contacts for a day to see if it would have any affect. Nothing. I finally decided to go to the doctor because I was feeling alot of pressure and the redness wasn't going away. He tested for a scratch and glaucoma, both tested negative, which is good. He just said take some pain medicine for the headache and then see me in the morning if nothing changes. I couldn't believe it, there really was nothing wrong with my blood shot red eye and a splitting headache, Tylenol which I had already been taking wasn't helping and you think miraculously it is just going to heal tonight. ???? So I headed home and took a nap, when I woke up my headache was hurting so bad I decided maybe I should head to the hospital just to make sure, we are talking about my eye, not a scratch on my leg. Not the brightest idea of mine, but obviously my mind was clouded by the pain, but I went to Kahuku hospital. If you wonder what I mean by this, I just read three perfect examples on my friend Erin Nelsons blog.

So, I go there fully knowing they probably can't do anything for me, but knowing I am in enough pain that it is worth a try and once again, it is my eye so I should try everything in my power. When I get there they tell me that my doctor pretty much did the same thing they would do but I could still talk to the doctor and see what he thought. After a few minutes of debating I thought whatever, it's my eye, I will try for a second opinion. So the doctor comes back looks at my eye, says well there is nothing else we can test you for but it looks like your contacts probably irritated it, what kind of drops or medication did your doctor give you, "none!" Well, it looks like he didn't finish his job. So he prescribes me some eye drops and vicodin. I forgot to tell him I was nursing and he didn't ask, but I don't think I can take vicodin while I am. Anyone want some vicodin? Anyway, the whole purpose of the pictures with the eyes is because the next day is the shark adventures and on the boat one of the girls said, "I didn't know you had one blue eye and one green eye." My response, "I don't." For some reason my left eye was bright green. I will get a better picture from Noelle with my eyes wide open. So of course that worried me a little but my redness had cleared up and my headache was fading. So I thought maybe I am OK. Well my doctor decides to call and check up on me the following day and asks how I am doing and for some reason when I woke up this morning, I was losing vision in my left eye, so he said I had to run to a specialist today and see what was going on. YAY, maybe we are getting somewhere with all of this now. Since Aaron had to work all day today I called Jana to see if she could come with me into town so I could have a babysitter while I went to the appointment. It turned out better than I could have hoped, it was actually Rob and Jana's 4 year Anniversary today and how did they spend their afternoon? With my kids at the windward mall! You guys are awesome, thank you so much and Happy Anniversary!!!!!! We did go out to El Mariachi after my appointment to celebrate!!!

Well to make a long story longer, I went to my appointment only to find out that the drops Kahuku hospital had given me were the wrong ones and I was to throw them away and start immediately on these other ones. Surprise, Surprise:) Sadly enough even the specialist couldn't give me an exact answer as too what was wrong with my eye but I am to go back in 5 days for a check up. So we will see, hopefully:) to be continued...

HAPPENINGS - Hawaiian Waters and BYUH pool

F.Y.I. - BYU-H Pool is open for community swim Monday-Friday 1-2:30 pm. This is a good way to get your keiki's comfortable in the water and an excellent way to wear them out before nap time:)

This was Kali's first day at the pool, I will get pictures and video of Kali and Brylie the next time we go and you will see the huge improvement in only a few times at the pool.

Also, Hawaiian Waters has a Dive "N" Movie every Friday night until the end of August. This is something I will definitely go to at least once, I just have not decided which one yet. Check out the movie schedules, open rides and pricing here.

This could be a fun date night or a fun family day at the water park. Since Aaron works Friday nights, I may hit up a kid movie night and take Kali, OR if one of you lucky ladies wants to be my hot date we could go on another night:) Like I said I have not made any firm plans yet, but I will keep you posted. Let me know what you think, or have a fun date night with the hubby or day with the family, just thought you might like to know:)

It has finally happened...

I always wondered when the day would come that Kali would fall asleep eating. I could not believe my eyes when I walked into the kitchen and Aaron was laughing and taking pictures of Kali, I could not believe she was really asleep. I guess that is what happens when she gets up at 6:00 am and goes non stop all day, riding bikes, swimming, playing on the swings, etc. by 3:30 pm this is what happens. I really wish I was there to witness it but sadly I was not, I remember watching video footage of my brother Nate falling asleep at dinner time and crashing face down into his food, ever since then I have waited for the day that I would be able to film my own children doing this same thing, maybe next time. We had just gotten back from the pool and Kali really wanted cheerios before her nap so she had eaten a couple bowls and I decided to jump in the shower, when I returned this is what I saw. So after Aaron and I had our fun talking pictures we put her to bed, I went into her room to check on her and I found her on the floor. Poor girl, exhausted! While she was swimming today, she was going 100 miles an hour. She would jump into the water swim to the stairs, back to the side of the wall, jump, swim to the stairs and on and on, she got creative in her jumps trying spins and running in the air, she was really entertaining. After about 15 min. non stop she got up on the side walk and threw up, it was pretty much just water, but she was funny, she acted like nothing happened she just kept on going. Brylie was with us and both of these girls are becoming quite the little swimmers.

Shark bait oohaha

I went swimming with the sharks! So I finally did it, and it was a BLAST! Thanks to my wonderful husband who made this possible. He decided it wasn't for him, he wasn't into paying money to see sharks in a cage when he has already seen them for free up close while spear fishing :O. He stayed home, got up with the kids at 6:00 am while I was in Haleiwa seeing sharks up close for the first time in my life. I really wanted to know how I would re-act or how I would feel seeing sharks so close. Surprisingly enough I was calm and it was just so amazing. Aaron thought I was crazy seeing how I freaked out in the water the few times I tried to spear fish with him. He never understood how I could be so calm and collect on a surfboard looking like a turtle or seal (live bait), and freak out while snorkeling, looking in the water fully equipped with a spear and knife. I don't know either but I honestly feel like I could spear with him now and not freak out, I think it has something to do with seeing sharks in real life and seeing how they are not out to get me:) I don't miss a second of shark week and love learning about them. I guess I feel like the more I know the less afraid I will be. Thanks to Rob and Jana Potts for organizing this fun excursion and thanks to Noel for being my date:)

Kalibunga!

Today was Kali's first time on a surf board and she was amazingly calm. She is 2 1/2 years old and she is a little fish in the water, she will already swim underwater. She did it today, from Erin Nelson to me she swam horizontally like two strokes!! (or should I say two doggy paddles). Today was a nice relaxing day in Waikiki. We rented surfboards and I got to go out for the first time in over a year, I was so excited!! Thanks to my babysitters, the Nelsons, and the Duffins. Thanks guys! I love these sequence of pictures, Kali first all excited on her board ready to go, then she is waiting, looking for a wave, she sees one "mom is this right" and then stands up, WIPEOUT! Then she is up and ready to go again:) Finally, apau.

Laie Days = Party Time!

Hawaiians know how to party!! Laie days goes from July 13-July 26 packed with fun and entertainment for the whole family:) They have several sporting events that last through out the night and plenty of food and fun through out the day. Kali decided she wanted to go on a bike ride after her nap today, to Foodland and get some shave ice, at Angel's. Upon our arrival we noticed the center of the parking lot was full of fun slides, rides and bounce houses. Kali was in heaven and so was I, it was FREE! As we headed over we ran into Matti and Eden Parker which was so fun, we haven't seen them in a while so it was nice to hang out and let the girls play. Matti was nice enough to jump on a ride with Kali since she was a little hesitant to go on it by herself, which surprised me, she is normally fearless, I think she realized during the ride that, (as Kali would say), "it wasn't to bad." Eden loved Kali's bike and had a nice little ride on it. After Kali had all the fun that she could she decided she was tired and ready to go home, totally forgetting about her shave ice, we were off. However, on the way home she remembered, and she was so funny, she abruptly stopped her bike and looked up at me in shock and said, "mom, we forgot shave ice!" It made me laugh! I told her we would do it another day which didn't seem to bother her because off she went again on her bike until I guess she got tired because in mid stride she dismounts her bike and the bike continues on with out her, she says, "apau" (which means all done, in hawaiian) and then starts walking, once again bursts of laughter from me. She was being so funny.

The pictures of Kali and Krew were from earlier in the day, I had set Krew on her bed and left the room, when I returned I found Kali laying next to him, it was so cute!! Krew adores his big sister, every time she talks to him, it makes him smile:)
