answered prayers

One of my big new years resolutions this year was to be more patient with Aaron and the kids and to not get so angry. The actual goals I have posted up in my room are:

Be patient
Be Christlike
Be supportive
Be productive
Be healthy
Be calm

I have a strong desire to really change this year and become better, especially when it comes to patience and not so quick to anger. In this week my prayers have been answered in two books. The Love Dare which I posted about on Valentine's Day and the second one is entitled, The Soft-Spoken Parent.
Those of you who know me well, know I am not a big reader. Aside from the scriptures, I really don't read at all. But for some reason I felt like I needed to pick up this book which I borrowed from Melissa Crosby, like 6 months ago, SORRY Melissa:) it has just been sitting on my shelf until this last week I picked it up and started reading it, and it has 55 strategies on how to react in a more loving way. AMAZING!!!! I am so grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers our prayers.

I screamed bloody murmy!!

Lili and Kali looking for the purple rock, Kim pointed out.
Lili found it, very coolKali wanted to find one too
She saw something in the water and pulled out a big shell. A couple seconds later, she started screaming bloody murder. I thought she had been stung by a blue bubble or something. After regaining composure she told me there was a crab in the shell. I laughed and told her she had picked up a hermit crab.
Later when we got home, Kali retold the story to Aaron and she said, "dad I picked up a hermit crab and it moved and I screamed bloody murmy!!!!!" Aaron looked at me puzzled. I laughed, she got that from hearing me say she screamed bloody murder. I turned to Kali and said slowly, "the saying is, bloody murder" She said, "I know, bloody murmy."

Happy Valentines Day!!

My mom sent us a Valentine package and inside it was this book, "The Love Dare" and the movie Fireproof. I started reading the book and it is a 40 day guide on how to learn to really LOVE your spouse. To learn what LOVE really is. I am so excited about it and can't wait to watch the movie tonight with my Valentine :) I am starting today and today it teaches that love is patient.

a few thoughts from the book on patience:

"Love will inspire you to become a patient person. When you choose to be patient, you respond in a positive way to a negative situation. You are slow to anger."

"Patience, however, makes us wise. It doesn't rush to judgment but listens to what the other person is saying. Patience stands in the doorway where anger is clawing to burst in, but waits to see the whole picture before passing judgment."

Today's dare:
"Although love is communicated in a number of ways, our words often reflect the condition of our heart."
"Resolve to demonstrate patience and to say nothing negative to your spouse at all. If the temptation arises, choose not to say anything. It's better to hold your tongue then to say something you'll regret."

Thanks mom for this book and movie, I am excited about doing this and being a better wife and mother!!!! Wish me luck! or should I say patience :)

If you are interested and want to know more about his book you can check it out here.
