conference and crafts
I had to come up with some creative ways to get Kali to sit in one place so I could try and enjoy the afternoon session. She got to sprinkle colored sand, "fairy dust" over these My Little Pony pictures. You pull off the top layer and underneath it is sticky. I also let her decorate a pumpkin:) I printed off a conference packet that my friend Brooke sent me and tried to get her to play bingo. When she heard someone say a word that was on the paper like, prophet, scriptures, prayer, etc. she got to put down an almond. That didn't last too long for her:( I liked it though! It had a fun matching game that she enjoyed. Matched the 12 apostles to a picture with their name. She did finally sit down and listen to Prophet Monson's final talk and then when the Tabernacle choir sang she got out her song book and sang with them. Aaron and I really enjoyed that:)
Happy Birthday Velzy
After conference on Saturday we celebrated Velzy's 3rd Birthday. The girls had a blast running around and playing with the balloons. A definite high light for the girls was the mermaid on the cake, and the cake of course. Kali helped Velzy finish licking the icing off of the mermaids bum:) After we filled our bellies with ono food we headed to the beach for some keiki surfing. I know I have previously posted pictures of Kali on a surf board, but those were poser pictures. She didn't actually catch a wave on that day. Saturday, October 4th Kali caught her first wave! It was a proud day for me:) After she caught about four waves she decided to try and stand up. This picture of Kali tring to stand is about as far as she got, she kind of was squating. Next time though, she will make it all the way up:) Thanks Malia for taking this picture. SO CUTE!

General Conference
I felt like a kid on Christmas morning as I turned on the TV at 5:30 am and enjoyed the tabernacle choir while I waited for 6:00 am to roll around. What an awesome conference filled with messages of Hope, the knowledge of Gods love for us, a wonderful conversion story, a reminder to read the Book of Mormon prayerfully and to ponder its words, the sacrament, the importance of missionary work, word of wisdom, don't live beyond our means, and learning that 5 new temples are going to be built. I am pretty sure I heard shouts of joy from the Wynes family as they announced a temple to be built in Calgary. It brought tears to my eyes and reminded me of the general conference when I learned that the Columbia River Temple was to be built in Tri-Cities, Washington.
Some words that were spoken that have really made me think are by:
Silvia H. Allred, "The greatest gift you can give is the gospel."
Neil L. Anderson, "You don't know everything, but you know enough."
Deiter F. Uchtdorf - Faith, Hope, and Charity - his description on how they compliment eachother.
If you would like to watch and hear these wonderful messages you can watch on BYU TV, or on line at BYU Broadcasting.

Halloween
I asked Kali what she wanted to be for Halloween and she first responded, "Minnie Mouse." I told her that she could be something different this year because she was Minnie Mouse last year. Every time I asked her that is what she told me. We tried on her last years costume to see if it still fit and let's just say, if I let her wear it, it would definitely be minnie. Her little bum was hanging out, and the shoes are too small. So I sat her down on my lap and we started looking on the computer for ideas. And this is how it went. We first found Super Girl. She thought that would be fun, so that was an option. Then we continued on and when these scary costumes popped up, THIS is what she wanted to be. I could not believe it. I was like, "Kali, those are so scary, those even scare me." She said, she wanted to be scary and scare everyone, then she proceeded to tell me all the people she wanted to scare.
OK, lets pause here for a moment. I never let her watch scary movies, I am very careful about what she watches, so she didn't see it on the TV. Why would she want to dress like this? I told her these costumes don't even come in her size because they are too scary. I did however find the sceleton costume in her size so we thought that might be a winner.
UNTIL, I found this precious gem. The vampire costume. I love it, she loves it, and she is so excited about the fact she gets to wear fangs and she gets to be scary:) She wanted the costume right NOW! Obviously I am not magic and could not make it appear, so I told her she would have to wait for it to come in the mail. And that is how it went down this year, in deciding what Kali should be for Halloween, a vampire.
Moral of the story before sitting your child down to look for costumes on the computer, find some that are suitable options in advance and ONLY give them those options:)

Waikiki Aquarium
I have wanted to check out the Aquarium for a while now, so finally on Monday morning I woke up and decided I needed to get the kids out of Laie. So off we went to Waikiki. Melissa and Kaiya joined us. The girls had so much fun. We were a little worried they would be cranky because of my last minute decision it was right during their nap time, but they were amazingly happy and just enjoyed all of the different fish and creatures of the sea. The highlights were the jelly fish, the BIG fish tank, the sea urchin and hermit crab which they got to touch (even Krew got to touch them, with Kali's help, what a good big sister :)) and last but not least the monk seal. They had two of them in the tank. When we first walked up to the glass part, I was really close to the glass looking for the seal. We couldn't see anything. All of a sudden the little bugger snuck up on me which startled me, OK it scared me to death, I jumped and screamed and the girls laughed, I am pretty sure Melissa laughed the hardest, but because I did that they were so hesitant to walk up to the glass and look at it. When we walked up above you could look down into the tank and watch them. The girls LOVED that and didn't want to leave. I realized at that moment these girls would love the Sea Life Park. So, next excursion, Sea Life Park:) As you can see the kids did eventually take there naps around 2:30 they had passed out, so Melissa and I enjoyed a stroll down Waikiki. When they woke up we took them in the ocean and let them float around in their innertubes and played shark. Shark is a game where Melissa and I act like a shark and chase the girls around, while they scream with laughter. They love it:)
